Lahden Seta ry offers various training modules concerning sexual orientation and gender diversity.

Common themes of these trainings are e.g. introducing Seta, the diversity of sexual orientation and gender, LGBTQI terminology and encounters with members of a sexual and/or gender minority. The trainings are organized from the viewpoint of equality.

Experience trainers and school visits: hundreds of elementary students participate in trainings and school visits organized by Lahden Seta in the Päijät-Häme and Kymenlaakso area.

The training takes into consideration the basics of the plan for elementary education (2014) and brings forth contents mentioned in the basics.

The target groups of school visits are, among others, elementary students from the 6th grade onwards, Prometheus and confirmation schools and various youth groups.

We offer a basic training and/or an experience trainer’s visit at a price of 30€/45 minutes or 50€/70 minutes. Travel expenses will be billed from the client, if the training is arranged outside of the operating area of the Lahti city public transportation.

The trainers are mainly volunteers from the organization, who have been through the trainer course of Seta. Experience trainers are themselves members of a sexual and/or gender minority and speak from their own point of view and have not necessarily had Seta’s trainer education.

The human rights of every person should be fulfilled in all areas of life. Sexual orientation, gender identity, expression of gender or other personal attributes of a person should not, for example, limit the availability of help to victims of violence, the services of the elderly and families, entrance to work life or participation in civil action.

The service director of our society helps with questions of sexual orientation and gender diversity. In addition the director helps to take a stance against discrimination, if you have experienced inappropriate treatment because of your sexual orientation and/or gender.

Service directing: The service director can be contacted by professional of different fields, who are looking for advice or support with themes concerning sexual orientation and gender diversity. Through service directing professionals have the chance to, for example, receive support for considering various sexual and/or gender minorities in their organizations. In addition advice for planning for equality and including sexual and gender minorities is also possible.

Individual counseling: Individual counseling is implemented in the Päijät-Häme area. Individual counseling gives support to members of sexual and gender minorities and those who are pondering their identity and their close ones. Topics can be sexual orientation, sex and sexuality, gender identity and gender expression, among others.

Professional individual counseling is possible for 1 to 5 times per client.
